    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Investing in Our Future: Local Graduates Complete Customer Service Training

Jonesboro, GA – Clayton County Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the successful completion of its second cohort of the Customer Service Training Program, a two-week accelerated course designed exclusively for 2025 graduates of Clayton County Public Schools.
This workforce development initiative is a collaborative effort between the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Technical College, and employer partners including Atlanta Gas Light, Clayton County Water Authority, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and Kaiser Permanente.

Over the course of the program, participants developed core customer service skills, practiced effective communication techniques, and learned to navigate workplace challenges using social and emotional intelligence. The training also included job readiness activities such as resume and cover letter development, professional dress guidance, and mock interviews with industry professionals. In the second week, trainees visited employer partner worksites, gaining first-hand exposure to customer service operations, learning about available job opportunities, and understanding the hiring process. Each participant earned industry-recognized digital badges throughout the training, and graduates are now eligible for job placement with participating employers.

“Customer support and service-industry roles continue to top the list of available jobs in our region. Bridging the soft skills gap, especially for young professionals just entering the workforce, is essential to long-term economic growth,” said Valencia Williamson, President & CEO of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. “This program helps position young adults for success while strengthening the talent pipeline for local employers.”

“Programs like this are incredibly valuable for building a pipeline of talent that’s prepared to step into customer-facing roles with confidence,” said Anquilla Henderson, Chief Human Resources Officer at Clayton County Water Authority. “We were impressed by the trainees' professionalism and eagerness to learn, and we’re excited about the opportunity to hire local talent who are job-ready from day one.”
