Clayton County Criminal Record Restriction Summit & Job Fair
CLAYTON COUNTY NEIGHBORHOODS UNITE FOR CHANGE, in collaboration with Clayton County Government, the Georgia Justice Project and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations will host a FREE first-ever Criminal Record Restriction Summit and Job Fair on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Citizens who have been arrested for, but not convicted of, misdemeanors and felonies, by any Clayton County law enforcement agency (including municipalities), may qualify to have certain criminal matters removed and sealed from their criminal record. The summit and job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverdale Town Center, located at 7210 Church Street in Riverdale, GA. We anticipate 75% of those attending will have one or all their arrests cleared from their records. A criminal record can be a major set-back in seeking employment, housing and education. This criminal record restriction summit will allow Clayton County citizens the opportunity to return to work and live productive lives instead of being hindered by bad decisions or youthful missteps which resulted in a misdemeanor or felony arrest. The process to expunge a charge usually takes more than 150 days, with much of the process being driven by the citizen obtaining key documents from the sheriff’s office and other agencies. This one-day event expedites the process for citizens who qualify. In addition, all fees will be waived for this event and free legal consultation will be provided for those who may not be approved during the summit. Citizens meeting the necessary criteria for the record restriction can file an application on the county’s website at www.claytoncountyga.gov. Please remember the crime MUST have taken place in Clayton County. Applications are being accepted from July 16th through August 6th for the first 150 applicants. FAQ and other pertinent information can be found on the website. The job fair will be open to the entire community.
