Bridging the Gap of Breastfeeding Disparities in Our Community
Breastfeeding has proven health benefits, such as lowering a baby's risk for lower respiratory infections, gastrointestinal tract infections, obesity, asthma, and Type 2 diabetes. Breastfeeding also been proven to lower a woman's risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, Type 2 diabetes, and postpartum depression. Many people, however, don't have all the facts when it comes to breastfeeding. In order to provide education, the Clayton County Board of Health will host "Bridging the Gap of Breastfeeding Disparities in Our Community," an all-day breastfeeding expo.
Who should attend?:* Physicians * Nurse Practitioners * Registered Nurses * Nurse Midwives * Dietitians * Nutritionists * Lactation Consultants * WIC educators * Professional Case Managers * Health Educators * Childbirth Educators * Peer Counselors * Doulas (labor coaches) * Supporters of Breastfeeding
Registration is $55 for general admission and $30 for Clayton State University students.
Participants will receive lunch, door prizes, and continuing education credits, as applicable.
