Hear from Marta Representatives as we prepare for the future of High Capacity Transit service in Clayton County! Learn more about the Clayton County Transit Initiative. An initiative designed to explore different transit alignments and technology opportunities to improve Clayton County’s transportation mobility, accessibility, and connectivity to the Metro Atlanta region.
In 2014, voters in Clayton County overwhelmingly approved a referendum to dedicate a one-cent sales tax for the expansion of MARTA service to the County. Approval of this one-cent sales tax has funded the expansion of MARTA Bus and Mobility service. The penny sales tax will provide funding for the implementation of future high capacity transit services in Clayton County.
MARTA is leading the Clayton County Transit Initiative to explore different transit options to improve Clayton County’s transportation mobility. Potential transit corridors may connect existing MARTA rail service from East Point or College Park to Lovejoy and to other major destinations in Clayton County and beyond. Transit alternatives may also include Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), rail options and will improve bus service connectivity. The proposed plan which features additional transit services will significantly improve regional connections, provide greater environmental benefits and generate increased levels of economic development within Clayton.
