SUMMARY:Jonesboro City Center Groundbreaking Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Jonesboro City Center located on Smith Street at the West end of Lee Park. The site is organized with the new City Hall\, Courthouse\, Police Department\, Probation offices and Community Room acting as one comprehensive building with general public/staff parking\, secured parking\, and landscaped buffer zones. The east side of the property provides a landscape and hardscape plaza connecting directly to Lee Park.\n\n \n\nThe architectural design of the exterior and interior "New Art Deco" echoes the progressive-mindedness yet stable culture of the City's Leaders and the general public of Jonesboro. This project also aligns with the goals and visioning of the "Blueprint Jonesboro" master planning.\n\n \n\nThe building is a two-story steel-framed structure cladded in limestone veneer\, glass with aluminum accents. The plan layout is uniquely organized around a double-height atrium/ Lobby for the building's full depth (east-west) acting as a common space to connect the various building departments. This facility contains a total of 35 offices and 5 conference rooms. The first level contains the Municipal Court/ City Council Chambers\, Court Services\, Probation Department\, Police Department\, Permitting/ Licensing Department\, and Community Room. Level two has all the City Hall's Executive Administrative offices and support. The community room\, atrium and courtroom each have a seating capacity of 90-100 people. The community room and atrium each have a maximum occupancy of approximately 200 people. \n\n \n\nThe City went through a competitive proposal process to select the general contractor\, in which interested contractors responded first to a qualifications questionnaire\, then those deemed qualified were asked to submit pricing proposals. After review of both qualifications and pricing\, Hogan was recommended as the preferred contractor.\n\n \n\nOnce the general contractor was selected\, the City\, the Architect (Nelson)\, Hogan and 4PM began an extensive review of the plans and pricing proposal to determine ways in which the project might be completed for less money. Initially\, approximately $800\,000 in savings was identified. However\, the process continues as the final construction plans for the building are completed.\n\nTotal construction for the project is anticipated to take approximately one year\, including both Phase I and II.\n\nAssuming the contract is approved and Hogan can mobilize to be onsite within the next two weeks\, the project should be completed by March 2022.\n\n \n\nCurrently Phase II of the project is projected to cost approximately $7\,600\,000.00 for a total project budget of approximately $12\,160\,000.00\, however the process of seeking to find savings as the design is completed continues.
