Committees

There are many opportunities for you to volunteer your time and services on committees and councils.  Listed below are the current groups that are available at the Chamber.

Please contact the Chamber if you are interested in serving on a council or committee.

Chamber Partners
Chair: Dorothy Herzberg, Career Resource Center - Clayton Branch
Mission: To serve as liaisons and ambassadors between the Chamber and new and existing members. The Chamber Partners contact new members to welcome and invite them to events, assist at ribbon cuttings, coordinate first time attendee introductions at the Early Bird Breakfast, plan the Member Orientations, the membership campaign and assist with event registration.
Meeting Dates: 1st Thursday, Chamber Office, 8:30 a.m. 

Education Committee
Chair: Lee Fincher, Fincher Denmark Williams Minnifield, LLC
Mission: To provide a forum for businesses to discuss educational issues and to actively support quality education in Clayton County. The Education Committee plans and executes the Principal Partner’s Day program.
Meeting Dates: As needed, Chamber Office

Golf Committee
Chair: Cindy Kerr-Kelley, Heritage Bank

Mission: To plan and execute the Chamber Annual Golf Tournament.
Meeting Dates: 3rd Thursday, Chamber Office, 3:30 p.m.

Governmental Affairs Council
Chair: Charlene Craig, SunTrust Bank
Mission: To provide an open dialogue between the Chamber and elected officials on the local, state, and federal levels. In addition, to evaluate legislative issues that affects the business community.
Meeting Dates: As needed, Chamber Office

Leadership Clayton Advisory Board (By Invitation Only)
Chair: Angela Redding, City of Forest Park

Mission: To engage emerging and existing leaders in a nine-month leadership development program that broadens their knowledge of the issues facing Clayton County, sharpens their leadership skills and challenges them and others to seek solutions to the issues affecting our community.
Meeting Dates: 3rd Wednesday, Chamber Office, 4:00 p.m.

Military Affairs Council (MAC)
Chair: Fred Bryant, City of Forest Park

Mission: To plan and execute the Chamber Annual Veterans Day Luncheon.
Meeting Dates: As needed, Chamber Office

Small Business Development Group (SBDG)
Chair: Mitch Johnson, Primerica Financial Services

Mission: To provide educational programs and events that focuses on small businesses and benefits the membership at large. The SBDG plans and executes the Business to Business Luncheons and the Showcase Clayton Business & Community Expo and coordinates the Small Business of the Year Award.
Meeting Dates: 1st or 2nd Friday, Chamber Office, 9:00 a.m. 
 
Women in Business Council (WIBC)
Chair: Coylitia Williamson O’Neal, Williamson Mortuary, LLC
Mission: To provide an environment where professional women can network and share information essential to their business, professional and personal lives. The WIBC provides programs and services to promote and support women in all areas of business, government and education. The WIBC plans and executes the Annual Women in Business Luncheon and the Quarterly Women in Business Council events and coordinates the Business Woman of the Year Award. The Council also oversees and manages the WIBC Mentoring Program.
